“Mrs Dalloway said she would buy the flowers herself”

I think it’s established now that as long as you’ve got a flower wall, your restaurant is going to rise to Instagram-fame and be super popular. There seem to be more and more of these flowery cafes and restaurants these days in London, showcasing an extremely photogenic wall or storefront. While incredibly pretty to look at, are the food up to par as well? We tried out the famous Elan Cafe but felt rather underwhelmed with its food. As a result, despite having it on my list for ages due to its dreamy interior, I was still initially hesitant to visit Dalloway Terrace. But I’m glad I did in the end.

I’ve got an offsite training session from work one morning. The location turned out to be very close to Dalloway Terrace. So it’s the perfect chance to finally give Dalloway Terrace a try and have it ticked off my list.

I arrived at 8am, which is their opening time. I was greeted with a friendly smile and got seated comfortably. Each table has a blanket, which adds such a cozy vibe to the restaurant. Like many other girls, I was quite swooned over the flowery decor. I liked the elegance yet not pretentious style with a touch of coziness.

Shakshuka

After an intense self-debate on whether to get the Eggs Royale or Shakshuka, the latter eventually won.

The shakshuka was incredibly luscious. The flavours were so rich and it’s got a lot of depth, offering a full-bodied experience to the palate. The sauce was also cooked to a really smooth texture, which was perfect wipe clean with the toasted and buttered sourdough bread served alongside the shakshuka.

Flat White

To finish off, I ordered my usual morning Flat White. Whilst the shakshuka was a star, the coffee was rather mediocre.

In summary…

…I was just so glad Dalloway Terrace isn’t just an aesthetically pleasing Instagram bait. I genuinely liked the food, though the coffee definitely could’ve been better. If you’re looking for a pretty, casual but still elegant spot for brunch, I’d certainly recommend Dalloway Terrace
