Darcie May Green Shakshuka

Here’s another one from the very popular Daisy Green Collection brunch spots. Darcie & May Green is situated on a boat at the Paddington Grand Union canal serving Aussie-style brunch.

Darcie & May Green is my first experience with the Daisy Green Collection and it didn’t disappoint! If you’re an early bird planning to brunch before 9.45 am or opting for a late one after 3 pm, you can make a booking beforehand. During 9.45 am to 3 pm is walk-in only.

The boat is not hard to find. If you’re taking the Hammersmith & City Line on the tube to Paddington, it is situated right outside the station exit. You won’t miss the sight of this colourful double-decked boat parked right in front of you as you emerge from the station exit. After all, Darcie & May Green is nicknamed a “floating piece of art”.

Darcie & May Green

We went on a Sunday morning at 10 am. The place was already buzzing and quite busy. Thankfully, we didn’t have to queue. The boat is split into three sections – the main dining room, the bar, and the rooftop deck area. The dining area is quite a compact space with a very simple interior. Whilst not the comfiest of seats, it’s no short of character and it’s all part of its boat charm.

Here is what we ordered:

Shakshuka (£10.7)

Shakshuka at Darcie & May Green

Spiced tomatoes, peppers, labne, baked eggs, charcoal toast

I love a good shakshuka for brunch. Topped with chillies, this shakshuka offered quite an alluring touch of spice. The overall texture was absolutely lush. When mixed with the labne, it formed this velvety sensation and rounded up the flavours really well. There were pieces of peppers in there to add texture without being too chunky. As for the eggs, they were cooked perfectly with a runny yolk – simply amazing in overall!

Banana Bread Sandwich (£9.7)

Banana Bread Sandwich at Darcie & May Green

Banana bread, mascarpone, berries, almond, honey

If you fancy something sweet, why not try out their award-winning banana bread sandwich! Two generous slices of banana bread are sandwiched with mascarpone, berries, almond, and honey. Not only was it an absolute stunner to the eyes, but it was also a very satisfying and moreish dish to indulge for breakfast.

Flat White (£3.2)

Last but not least, I ordered a Flat White as my coffee pick as per usual. The coffee came with a nice latte art and features good strength of caffeine. It was, all in all, a very decent cup of coffee.

In summary…

…Darcie & May Green had been an absolutely lovely brunch spot. It might not have an extravagant interior like many brunch spots across London, but it certainly has its unique charm. There was even an occasional rock on the boat, which caught us a bit off guard and then a good laugh. Moreover, the food was good and worth the value! After the delicious meal, we chilled a bit on the rooftop area to enjoy the short-lived English sun. I would definitely recommend this place!
