I can’t think of a better day than chilling inside a cafe, munching on some delicious pastries, sipping on a cup of good coffee, with jazzy music playing in the background – Fabrique Bakery gave me all that. I have always heard so much good things about them, especially about their Cinnamon Buns. Their cinnamon buns have been branded as the best one in London by numerous people. I doubt it’s always this quiet at their cafes but perhaps it’s because of the Xmas period, the whole of Nottinghill / Portobello area was just so calm. As a result, I managed to enjoy a lovely early-afternoon café session there.

Being a Swedish bakery originated in Stockholm, it of course offers the Nordic classics such as the Cinnamon Bun (of course), Cardamon Buns and Saffron Buns. Apart from that, it also offers the standard items such as croissants and pain au chocolat, as well as sandwiches and brownies.

From the range of alluring displays of The Nordic buns all visually looked amazing. I personally really liked how they are all in a delicate knot shape and studded with sugar crystals. It was such a simple visual but carries a swift of elegance.  Out of the different flavours of the Nordic buns, I ordered the Cinnamon Bun and then a Flat White coffee as well.

Cinnamon Bun (£2.50)

As I took my first bite into the Cinnamon Bun, I immediately understood why they’re so popular. It’s fluffy and sticky – exactly how a perfect Swedish cinnamon bun should be. Though it might be a bit messy due to its stickiness, the taste makes it all worth it. Every bite was satisfying and I promise I can finish a whole tray of it. I loved how it was at just the perfect level of sweetness. The cinnamon was also all laced evenly around the bun. Their coffee was really nice as well. It was fragrant with a light and delicate texture – perfect to complement my coffee.

Flat White (£2.75)

Their coffee was really nice as well. Strong but soothing to taste, it creates a really nice balance to the sweet Cinnamon Bun. If you’re interested, their coffee is brewed from Swedish coffee roasters Johan & Nyström.

I sat there at my small round table, thoroughly enjoyed my sweet treat with a coffee and listening to their soothing jazz music playlist. I also noticed quite a number of people popping in to buy some freshly baked artisan bread loaves from them.

All in all, this Nordic bakery is a gem in the city – amazing pastries, great coffees and a lovely vibe. The staffs were friendly and always wearing a smile on their faces. They have branches in Shoreditch, Covent Garden and Fitzrovia as well. It’s very convenient to pick up a little sweet treat or pop in for a coffee break. Or shall I say a fika (the concept of coffee break in Swedish)?
