Halloumi Fries at Oli Baba

Everyone loves fries. There’s normal fries, sweet potato fries, messy fries, cheese fries, even polenta fries and okra fries. But there is this game changer here stepping into the market – Halloumi Fries.

So Halloumi Fries – deep-fried cheese – no further explanation needed. At Oli Baba in KERB Camden, you can get a portion of Halloumi Fries served with Za’atar Yogurt, Pomegranate Seeds, Mint, Sumac and Pomegranate Molasses for £5.

These fries smelled absolutely stunning. Visually they look luscious either, especially with their golden colour drizzled with yogurt and decorated with pomegranate seeds.

The halloumi was cooked nicely – it didn’t generate that rubbery texture when it gets overcooked. The savoury flavour of the cheese got the spotlight whereas all these subtle spices on the side complemented and elevated the overall flavours.

Obviously the fries would not be the crunchy type of fries but they do have a nice crisp on the outside wrapped over this heavenly goodness inside. The fries do not leave a greasy taste in your mouth and cheese flavour was actually relatively mild and not overpowering. The yoghurt certainly helps lightening it up in overall and simply complements the flavour. There is this mild exotic touch and taste to it as well with all these spices and condiments.

All in all, this creation of halloumi fries is absolutely awesome and  I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t love it. Go treat yourself on a cheat day and enjoy this amazing goodness!
