Honest Burger has grown rapidly over the years not just across London, but also regionally in Reading, Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff, Brighton, Manchester and Liverpool. As an opening gift for the Hammersmith branch, they have decided to give out free burgers for those who subscribed to their website. Knowing they offer vegetarian options and has got quite some good reviews for it, I thought why not give it a go. So I signed up, and one day I checked my mailbox and found a nice letter from Honest Burger with vouchers for claiming the free burgers.

The Hammersmith branch is located at Fulham Palace Road, right opposite to the Hammersmith Broadway mall which connects with the underground station. It’s not a particularly huge space but it definitely carries its own charm and charisma. It has an urban and industrial setting with upbeat music playing in the background.  The staffs were incredibly enthusiastic and friendly – they certainly have put a smile to our faces and contributed to our pleasant dining experience.

Vegetarian Burger

Vegetarian or not, all their burgers are served in a large plate with a generous pool of rosemary-salted chips on the side.

Starting with the burger, the vegetarian burger is basically a mixed vegetable fritter that’s made of cauliflower, sweetcorn, tomatoes, shallots, spices, coriander. It is then topped with cucumber yoghurt and sandwiched in between brioche burger buns.

The brioche burger buns were very nice, carrying a light crisp on the outside and was soft on the inside. It was pretty fragrant as well. As for the vegetarian fritter, I really enjoyed the mild curry spices they have on it. The fritter somewhat reminded me of an onion bhaji. I liked the flavour of it but I personally think it was slightly on the dry side. Perhaps that’s because I’m not too keen on cucumber yoghurt so I tried to take them out of the burger. I personally think a salsa type of sauce would work better in this burger, but that’s just a personal preference.

As for the rosemary-salted chips, they were amazing. They were really aromatic, perfectly golden and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They were very well-seasoned and just leave you wanting more. The portion served was pretty generous either, ensuring you a happy belly.

In summary…

…it’s a shame that Honest Burger doesn’t offer halal options at the moment (they were offering halal chicken options for their Tooting and Baker Street branches for a while). While I couldn’t speak for its meat options, I could definitely see the potentials from its vegetarian burger. Plus, those rosemary chips were to die for. Hope to see some halal options back on the menu at some point soon!
