Nottinghill has another new coffee shop in town and it’s a good one! Tucked behind the main street, right by my favourite brunch spot, Eggbreak, is the newly opened Kuro Coffee. Its aesthetically pleasing design is a huge draw, featuring a bright white and light wooden theme that’s inspired by Japanese cafe minimalism. They have a quiet seating area upstairs where you get to completely escape from the hustle & bustle of city life.
Aesthetics aside, Kuro Coffee boasts itself as a pet-friendly coffee shop and serves the very best of ingredients you can find in the city. To name drop, they use high-quality milk sourced from The Estate Dairy, and their teas from speciality tea brand, Tea Repertoire.
The Drinks at Kuro Coffee
Iced Latte
Starting with the iced latte, the coffee has certainly hit the spot. The espresso has a fairly strong strength and gives a really nice buzz. It was rich and full-bodied in flavour without any bitter aftertaste. Texture-wise, it’s velvety and delicate, which makes a great cup of iced latte! It’s certainly a perfect quencher for these hotter weathers.
Iced Matcha Latte
Despite the Japanese inspiration, Kuro Coffee is not actually a Japanese cafe. Nevertheless, their matcha is totally up to par with the top players around town. They use top quality Uji ceremonial matcha, whisked right in front of you as they make the matcha latte.
The matcha was smooth to taste, blended into a lovely silky texture with the milk. Its vibrant and deep green colour reflects its tip-top quality, and its flavours clean with a subtle sweet undertone. No sweeteners are added, so it’s most ideal for those without much of a sweet tooth and matcha aficionados.
In summary
Kuro Coffee is a terrific addition to the area and I’d highly recommend stopping by if you happen to be around. Other than coffee, you can also find individually packed pastries available, offering the likes of croissants, pain au chocolat, and cinnamon buns. You’d also find some of the friendliest staff greeting you at the shop and, all in all, a great experience from them.
