Albeit a small space, Nottinghill Coffee Project immediately stood out from its surrounding mainstream high-street chains. You won’t miss it as you step out of the Nottinghill underground station. By the window shop, you’d see a large lab-like set-up showcasing drip-drop coffee. Stepping into the shop, we were greeted by a vibrant atmosphere, with buzzing but not overly loud music in the background. The interior features a minimalistic setting yet warming at the same time. Opposite the coffee bar is a white wall decorated with framed artworks from a photography competition hosted by the local community. It’s simple but a well thought out and atmospheric space.

Apart from the usual coffee options, they also serve matcha, chai, regular tea, chocolate, as well as orange juice, ginger shot/juice, and press juice. Their coffee is from one of London’s leading speciality coffee roasters, Assembly Coffee, so there’s no short of expectations. Pastries on the counter include the likes of pastel de nata and croissants. Though the relatively underwhelming looks of them didn’t prompt us to try them out so we stuck with just coffee. In addition, for every hot drink sold, 25p will be donated to Centre Point, UK’s leading youth homelessness charity.

We ordered a latte and mocha on our visit. The chirpy barista was quick to work and two striking orange cups with steaming coffees in them came ready in no time. Both cups were topped with delightful latte art which always leave a great first impression.

Flavour-wise, both coffees offered a rich and strong hit immediately upon the first sip. As mentioned, Nottinghill Coffee Project serves award-winning Assembly Coffee, highlighting a full-bodied flavour and a nutty undertone. Its aroma filled up our senses, its texture incredibly smooth and velvety, which could only indicate the best of best coffees around town.

Awful service ! Average coffee . They serve people that order online and ignore the costumers standing in front of them. 10 minutes wait for a flat white. This shop is just another fad that will not last ! 1* is a high score for the staff’s performance today.

Oh no, Florentina! I’m so sorry to hear that. Did you feed that back to the staff? I genuinely hope it’s just a one-off issue
