An easy-to-make but lip-smackingly delicious Tandoori Masala Salmon recipe, encompassing a terrific punch of flavours to wow the palate!
Making this lip-smacking Tandoori Masala Salmon for dinner the other day was one of those occasions where I genuinely felt like I’d happily give up eating meat and become a pescastarian. Fish is simply amazing – light, healthy, generally easy to cook and bang on with flavours.
This was so easy to prep. All it takes is to mix all the spices together into a spice rub/paste, then rub it all over the salmon fillets and let marinate for a little bit before popping it into the oven to cook. Despite some of my long working hours at home, this was easy for me to sneak a quick minute to prep, leave it to marinate as I get back to work, then another quick minute to pop it into the oven until it’s done.
The result was fantastic. It carried a nice sharp punch of flavours – piquant, tangy and spicy – basically a little flavour party on your palate! This is definitely more of a masala fish concept rather than a tandoori. But I named it Tandoori Masala Salmon as I used tandoori masala for the recipe and I really lack creativity when it comes to naming dishes.

Ingredients for the Tandoori Masala Salmon Spice Rub:
*Detailed recipe and ratios on the recipe card below
- Turmeric Powder
- Cumin Powder
- Chilli Flakes
- Chilli Powder
- Tandoori Masala Powder
- Sea Salt
- Lemon Juice
- Cooking Oil
How to make:
Simply mix all the above ingredients together to form a paste, and then rub it all over the salmon fillets. I have let it marinate for about 30 minutes to an hour in the fridge before cooking it.
Pan-frying would definitely work as well here. But as I was saying how I was sneaking minutes here and there from work to cook, this is all about oven-cooking. I had the marinated salmon fillets cooked at preheated 200C for about 15 to 20 minutes until the salmon’s cooked through.
Before serving, I gave it an extra squeeze of lemon and garnished it with some fresh coriander leaves. I had it with rice since I’m more of a rice person but potatoes would definitely go well with it too!
