It’s been a bit of a rocky road for Darjeeling Express. They had to shut their doors at Carnaby last year but soon managed to open a new site in Covent Garden a few months later, only to be hit with yet another government restriction. Until we can finally dine in again, luckily some of Asma’s homely dishes are available for delivery for us to enjoy at home.
Their signature biryanis, with options of either chicken or vegan, are available for nationwide delivery. More recently, Darjeeling Express has launched a 7-course menu for two, making the perfect dinner treat whether for mother’s day or any other occasion.
Alternatively, if you live in London and fancy something more than biryani, you can order from the deli for the likes of curries, kati rolls, masala chai etc.
Everything is halal at Darjeeling Express.
Delivery: Nationwide / London only (Deli menu)
Humble Crumble serves some of the prettiest crumble desserts in town and it’s been an absolute delight to all of us that they are doing a “bake-at-home” range for delivery across both London and nationwide. You can choose from individual flavours or opt for a bundle that includes apple flavour, mixed berry flavour, and the mixed berry & apple flavour. Custard and their twice-baled crumble topping are to be purchased separately.
All their fruit crumble fillings are vegan and you can order vegan and gluten-free custard and crumble toppings.
Delivery: London (Mon-Sat) & Nationwide (Weds & Fri)
Not that you could exactly replicate it’s Instagram-swoon-worthy interior and iconic bathroom, but you could definitely still spoil mom with a slice of Sketch’s afternoon tea at the comforts of your own home. The afternoon tea set comes in a pink sketch jewellery box, featuring a delightful selection of finger sandwiches, pastries, scones and tea, as well as including a recommended Spotify playlist!
Please note that Sketch does not offer halal meats. Vegetarian/vegan/pescatarian options are available.
Come Mother’s Day morning, treat mom to a special breakfast featuring the signature breakfast naan rolls from Dishoom! The meat version, unfortunately, contains bacon but the vegan sausage option is no short of cracking flavours. The vegan sausage is made of a clever mix of fermented vegetables (beetroot, mushroom and onion) that’s complemented with a special blend of spices for deep, rich umami flavours.
The kit also comes with chai spices and loose tea leaves to recreate Dishoom’s signature masala chai at home. For each kit ordered, a donation will be made to the Magic Breakfast charity.
Cakes are perfect as a mother’s day treat! Treat your mom with a classic 5″ vanilla cheesecake from the sensational Whipped London, available for nationwide delivery to be delivered on 12th March. It comes with piping bags of writing icing for you to personalise your cake, chocolate shavings, a range of sauces (caramel, raspberry & chocolate), sugar flowers, and honeycomb.
It’s not quite possible to take mom out for a little holiday yet. But you can bring a little taste of Portugal to her by treating her (and yourself) a taste of Portuguese Pastel de Nata from Santa Nata.
The popular Covent Garden patisserie offers the best pastel de nata in town, completely up to par to those from Lisbon, available for delivery across London within a 6-mile radius.
How cute would it be to recreate your own hoppers? Hoppers has recently launched their signature hoppers DIY kit, just in time for mother’s day. They also come with a hopper pan and a Cash & Kari Limited Edition Market Tote as well! In addition, there’s a Lamb Kothu meal kit and a Kalupol Chicken meal kit available too.
Chicken, lamb, and mutton are halal at Hoppers London.
Priding themselves with luxurious melt-in-your-mouth cookies and ultra gooey brownies, Tailor Bakes is a great pick for a little Mother’s Day sweet treat. Apart from their usual brownie boxes and cookies selections, they have launched a Mother’s Day special Cookie Pies. These cookie pies are a fun spin on the classic cookie, featuring a distinctive and unique gooey oozing centre that’s going to be way too hard to resist from!
