With the year coming to an end soon, work has been extremely busy and hectic. While I try to catch up as much sleep as I can on the weekend, I also just want to be fed nicely! And what’s more comforting than a good Sunday roast? In hunt of a good halal Sunday roast around West London, we come across Steak On The Green in Ealing Broadway.
Steak On The Green serves a separate halal steak menu and their Sunday roasts are halal too! We went at roughly 3 pm on Sunday and the restaurant was super busy. Luckily we got a table that was just leaving and got seated without having to wait. Given how busy things are, it did take a while before someone’s free to give us the menus and take our orders. Do remember to ask for a separate halal menu.
Sunday Roast Beef (£14.95)
You get to choose from either Roast Chicken or Roast Beef on the Sunday Roast menu – and I went for the latter. Two slices of medium-rare aged sirloin roast beef were served with gravy over it, sided with seasonal vegetables, roasted potatoes, and Yorkshire pudding.
The beef was generally tender and of good quality. However, I feel the crust needed a teeny bit more seasoning and perhaps a little bit more gravy as well.
My favourite out of the plate was definitely the roasted potatoes, which were tremendously crispy on the outside and incredibly fluffy on the inside. Roast potatoes may sound like the most regular thing but it says a lot when they actually impress you!
Warm Belgian Chocolate Fondant (£6)
The roast was absolutely satisfying but having spotted chocolate fondant on the dessert menu, I just couldn’t resist at all.
This is a classic dessert combo that you can’t go wrong. It’s always a lush sensation to have that warm dark chocolate paired with cold vanilla ice cream. The dessert was a great finishing touch tough I felt the cake itself might just be a few seconds overcooked. But all in all, it’s decent.
Summing up our little impromptu meal at Steak On The Green, the Sunday roast was satisfying and could be a convenient go-to for West Londoners. We thought that service was a bit slow but then the restaurant had been very busy on the day so I feel it’s understandable, albeit definitely room for improvements. Their steaks look reasonably nice too so we may come back for some on another occasion!
