Verona may not have many big international hotel brands in the city but there are a couple of boutique hotels and plenty of holiday apartments and B&Bs available to stay in. In our opinion, the historical centre is the best place to stay at. This is because that’s where all the main sights are located and the accommodations are well-maintained. It is the best place to properly immerse yourself in the romanticism of the city and experience its charms. Some other different options would be to stay in the Veronetto area just across the bridge or near the Castel San Pietro.
Either way, Verona is a small & compact city so either side of the river doesn’t matter too much. Everything and everywhere is very much walkable from there. Alternatively, if you’d like to look for some peace & quiet in the Italian countryside, there are options just outside the city on the hillside too!

Best Hotels to Stay in Verona
Hotel Indigo Verona – Grand Hotel des Art
Our first pick of hotels in Verona ought to be Hotel Indigo Verona – Grand Hotel des Art. The hotel is conveniently located midway between the Verona Arena and Porta Nuova station and is well within walking distance of every sight. Once home to Austrian nobility, the hotel has retained many antique furniture and its Art Nouveau style decors, complemented with contemporary paintings and modern furnishings. There is no better place for a trendy, artsy and tasteful stay in Verona than this!
Escalus Luxury Suites Verona
Being part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World group, Escalus Luxury Suites is one of the best boutique accommodations in the heart of Verona. The hotel is named after the character Prince Escalus in Romeo & Juliet, and is located well within the historical centre where the whole story is based at. It is housed in a stone townhouse and is just a few steps away from the Verona Arena. You can expect chic designs and modern furnishings and simply lay back for a comfortable & tasteful stay. It is no doubt a top pick when it comes to the best hotels in Verona and for good reasons.
Relais Balcone di Giulietta / Il Sogno di Giulietta
Juliet’s Balcony is one of the most popular sights in Verona. Personally, as mentioned in my Verona Italy Travel Guide, I don’t think it’s particularly worth paying & bracing the long queues just to get to the balcony. However, if you’d really like to have your Romeo & Juliet moment, you can choose to stay at the Relais Balcone di Giulietta (a.k.a Il Sogno di Giulietta) instead which is housed inside the courtyard of Juliet’s House. Not only is this intimate boutique hotel situated right next to Juliet’s House, but it also offers private access to Juliet’s Balcony and courtyard during after hours. Yes, this means you can enjoy the full charms of the place crowd-free after the gates to tourists are closed!
Don’t let the original medieval facade fool you. Each room ooze history but they are all well-equipped with modern amenities and comfortable furnishings. As long as you don’t mind the tourist crowds during the day, it’s a great pick to stay.
1881 Luxury Suites
1881 Luxury Suites is located at the heart of Verona’s historic city centre just behind the Verona Arena. In other words, this means the room will offer you some of the most splendid views of the famous amphitheatre and the Piazza Bra! Featuring a light and airy interior, everything in the flat is new and modern, finished with cosy touches to make you feel at home. All other sights are just within walking distance and the bus stop to Lake Garda is just in front of the hotel should you be looking to take a day trip there.
Air Suite Verona
Air Suite Verona offers spacious rooms in the heart of the historic city centre and is located close to the Arena, Piazza Bra, and other sights. Each room is modernly furnished and offers a peaceful & intimate place to wind down from your day. Additionally, they have spa facilities that are located just a few steps away from the accommodation building, featuring an 8-place Jacuzzi whirlpool bath, sauna, Turkish bath, sensory showers, Kneipp therapies, heated bench, and a salt room for various treatments. Private parking is also available.
Relais Colle San Pietro
Relais Colle San Pietro is situated just beneath the famous Castel San Pietro, which is known to have the best and most romantic views of Verona. It is located just around the funicular station to take you up the hill to enjoy those spectacular views at any time. The bread & breakfast boasts breathtaking views over Ponte Pietra and the historic city centre, so make sure you request a balcony to make the most out of it. Compared to other options within the historic centre mentioned above, they may not have the most modern amenities but are still a charming place to stay.
Il Vicolo Residence Aparthotel Verona
Il Vicolo Residence is an apartment-style hotel set in a 17th-century building in the Veronetta area. All rooms feature a contemporary design and modern furnishings, offering a comfortable stay to make you feel at home. There are many cafes & restaurants in the immediate area and the Verona historic centre is within walking distance to explore. Other facilities in this aparthotel include a business centre, fitness room, and private parking. It basically has all the essentials you need for your visit to Verona.
Design Rooms Verona
Design Rooms Verona is situated near the Castel San Pietro and Ponte Pietro and is one of the more newly renovated accommodations in the area. The rooms feature a private entrance and are very well-equipped and elegantly designed. It is located slightly uphill and on a quiet street but is still close enough to Verona’s historic centre & sights. All in all, it’s a great option (as long as you don’t mind the hilly walk) and a comfortable option to stay at.
Delser Manor House Hotel
Last but not least, I’d like to introduce you to Delser Manor House Hotel. This hotel is housed in a charming historic building that was once a monastery and then a Palladian Villa before what it is now. It is located outside of the city, tucked into the tranquil hillside in the Italian countryside. To reach Verona city centre, it is about a 20-minute drive or there are buses that will take you directly to Castelvecchio or Piazza Bra in about 40 minutes.
