Where to Stay in Verona Italy

Verona may not have many big international hotel brands in the city but there are a couple of boutique hotels and plenty of holiday apartments and B&Bs available to stay in. In our opinion, the historical centre is the best place to stay at. This is because that’s where all the main sights are located and the accommodations are well-maintained. It is the best place to properly immerse yourself in the romanticism of the city and experience its charms. Some other different options would be to stay in the Veronetto area just across the bridge or near the Castel San Pietro.

Either way, Verona is a small & compact city so either side of the river doesn’t matter too much. Everything and everywhere is very much walkable from there. Alternatively, if you’d like to look for some peace & quiet in the Italian countryside, there are options just outside the city on the hillside too!

Relais Balcone di Giulietta / Il Sogno di Giulietta

Juliet’s Balcony is one of the most popular sights in Verona. Personally, as mentioned in my Verona Italy Travel Guide, I don’t think it’s particularly worth paying & bracing the long queues just to get to the balcony. However, if you’d really like to have your Romeo & Juliet moment, you can choose to stay at the Relais Balcone di Giulietta (a.k.a Il Sogno di Giulietta) instead which is housed inside the courtyard of Juliet’s House. Not only is this intimate boutique hotel situated right next to Juliet’s House, but it also offers private access to Juliet’s Balcony and courtyard during after hours. Yes, this means you can enjoy the full charms of the place crowd-free after the gates to tourists are closed!

Don’t let the original medieval facade fool you. Each room ooze history but they are all well-equipped with modern amenities and comfortable furnishings. As long as you don’t mind the tourist crowds during the day, it’s a great pick to stay.
