Meet Bros Paddington

We love Malaysian food, and we adore a good premium-quality steak. There’s a Malaysian fusion steakhouse in town, you say? Oh, we’ll be right there! Meet Bros has been on our radar since it opened in Paddington. The concept of intimate cave setting semi-fine dining, promising good food that’s fully halal with no alcohol served at the restaurant, is something exactly right up our street. It may have taken us a little while but we couldn’t be more thrilled to finally try this restaurant out.

It may not seem too special from the outside, but once you descend the stairs, you’ll find yourself in this charming cave setting – almost Cappadocia-like – with an intimate & romantic ambience. There is certainly an upscale feel to the place, but still in a casual and approachable way. The upper floor is the bar, waiting lounge, and prayer space, with a few al fresco dining tables. During Ramadan, the waiting lounge will also be transformed into a separate prayer space as well.

The Food at Meet Bros (what we ordered)

Date of visit: February 2025

Lychee Mojito (£11)

To start, we were served Meet Bro’s signature mocktail and bestseller – the Lychee Mojito, a concoction lime, lychee, fresh mint, soda, and palm sugar. The minty flavour, tinged with a subtle gingery undertone, makes this drink a refreshing start to the meal. It’s light and crisp – something you want to slowly sip on to detect all the layers of flavour.

Meet Bros Spring Rolls (£12.95)

Starters started with a bang with these Meet Bros Cheeseburger Spring Rolls. Moreishly meaty and juicy, with a subtle touch of pickled onions cutting right through the richness, these were simply delightful. The accompanying sauce was the perfect final touch to the dish, adding a punchy kick and oomph that leaves a lasting impression.

Asian Style Guacamole (£19.65)

Then we had the Asian-style Guacamole that comes with chilli tomato salsa and fried shallots on avocado, served with lime and cassava chips. The staff will mix the guacamole for you upon serving the dish to your table. Flavour-wise, it was incredibly tangy, though almost a little too much, slightly overshadowing other ingredients, in my opinion. We utterly adored the idea of cassava chips and couldn’t have enough of them!

Lobster Curry Noodle (£41.95)

Moving onto the mains, we were served the glorious Lobster Curry Noodle. It was essentially a laksa, but with a thicker texture where the broth was more like a sauce, and was topped with lobster tails for a showstopping effect. Its rich & piquant flavours absolutely hit the spot for us, and the lobster tails were cooked just right too. The only comment was to perhaps let the tofu puff soak in the broth a little more for extra flavour.

Halal ribeye steak at Meet Bros restaurant in Paddington, London

Black Angus Argentinian Ribeye (£38.95)

Then here comes the much anticipated steak and it did not disappoint. It was quality in every bite, tender to taste and oozing of rich full-bodied buttery flavour. I would recommend getting a sauce on the side. We had it with a side of chilli tomato sauce, i.e sambal, that came with the Lobster Curry Noodles and the flavours certainly worked.

Lamb Biryani (£36.95)

Juicy and tenderly falling off the bone, those saucy barbecue lamb ribs were a hit for our little one. The Malaysian-style biryani was decent – nice but not too particularly memorable compared to all the other dishes we had for the evening. A generous amount of pickled vegetables were served on top of the rice, giving a really tangy flavour to the overall dish. Personally, perhaps a more robust biryani would add more oomph and contrasting flavours, in our opinions.

Grilled Broccolini with Tomato Chilli Sambal (£9.50)

Unfortunately, there was not much grilled flavour to the broccolini but the sambal has certainly got quite a kick to it. I would’ve loved to see more of a charred touch to the broccolini, which would offer a more complex flavouring layers and make this humble side dish stand out a lot more especially when paired with such a bold sauce.

Truffle Parmesan Fries (£9.50)

These truffle parmesan fries were delectable and got my name written all over them. They were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, seeping with an earthy aroma from the truffle, while the Parmesan added an alluring savoury & nutty touch. Every flavour component was very well-balanced, nothing too overpowering, and blended well together harmoniously. It’s exactly how I like my truffle fries!

Fried Banana Fritters (£15.95)

For desserts, we were served with the fried banana fritters, which was essentially an elevated version of a classic Pisang Goreng. Wrapping the banana in Kataifi pastry was a genius idea and brought out such beautiful textures. The caramelisation of the banana offers a deep and rich sweetness, balanced with the ultra-smooth and silky vanilla bean ice cream to create such an irresisitible flavour combo.

Pineapple Pudding Turnover (£15.95)

Despite having pineapple in the name, the pudding itself wasn’t quite pineapple-y and, somehow, we quite liked it this way! It’s got a rather interesting toffee pudding-like flavour, lighter than what you’d expect for a classic sticky toffee pudding, but still featuring a delectable deep caramelisation that keeps you wondering for more. Together with the pineapple chunks and vanilla ice cream, it’s certainly an interesting and enjoyable one to savour.

Strawberry Lemonade (£10)

As lovely the Lychee Mojito was, you just can’t go wrong with a good Strawberry Lemonade and we just loved this drink. It’s always the perfect thirst quencher – vibrant, bright, zesty, and refreshing to taste.

Watermelon Juice (£6)

Last but not least, we were served with the watermelon juice which was smooth, cool and subtly sweet. The vibrant red colour with a foamy top ensures an impressionable presentation even with such a simple drink.

Meet Bros Review Summary

We loved our dining experience at Meet Bros and would continue to sing our praises about it. Such a uniquely sophisticated but approachable restaurant concept is much needed in today’s underwhelming halal dining scene. Though that being said, prices are on the steeper side so I’d recommend saving this spot for a special occasion. Booking ahead is highly recommended as we saw how busy it was during an early weekday evening!
