London has so many breakfast and brunch restaurants, all special and unique to their own, and makes up a huge part in the London foodie culture. One of my favourites though, is undoubtedly this absolute gem in west London, Eggbreak.
Eggbreak is a neighbourhood brunch restaurant in the heart of Nottinghill, situating just behind Nottinghill’s main street, at a quaint pastel-coloured building. The restaurant is Ennismore’s (the group behind the Hoxton hotels) first standalone restaurant venture and it runs with a cosy rustic style of interior plus a laidback vibe. The restaurant spans across two floors and can get very busy on the weekends (as you would expect for a quality brunch spot in London).
Here’s what we had:
Crab Cake (£15)
This is the very dish that had me bookmarking Eggbreak high up on my brunch list in the first place. It is certainly one of the most popular dishes on their menu, featuring a Crab Cake topped with spinach, poached eggs, and Sriracha hollandaise.
The crab cake was an absolute delight. Every time I ordered this crab cake, it never fails to satisfy every part of my palate. It was simply spot on – every bite was bursting with that soft savoury and sweet crab meat. The coating was exceptionally crispy as well. As for the egg, it was incredibly perfectly poached, with its yolk was literally gushing out when sliced open. Just bravo! I particularly enjoy it when it’s tinged with a drizzle of Tobasco over it as it makes everything pops even more.
Nutella French Toast (£11)
Another popular favourite on their menu is this Nutella French Toast. Not just an ordinary Nutella-filled French toast, but also coated with cornflakes! It is served with a side of whipped mascarpone and maple syrup.
The filling was very generous. If you’re a Nutella lover, you just can’t go wrong with it. The cornflakes coating added a gorgeous crunch over the French toast – a genius and stunning idea to put on the French toast. Last but not least, the mascarpone with maple syrup was simply superb. It is not too heavy and compliments to the rich Nutella filling with its beautiful delicate sweetness.
Eggbreak Benedict (£13)
You can choose from Scottish smoked salmon or hardwood smoked bacon. We obviously went with the salmon. It’s served over toasted muffins, topped with perfectly poached eggs and a lip-smacking brown butter hollandaise.
Whilst this may seem a relatively more ordinary brunch dish, there is nothing ordinary about it here at Eggbreak. The brown butter hollandaise was a ridiculous delight, featuring an umami flavour that rounds up the dish so incredibly well. It is easily the best Eggs Benedict / Eggs Royale I’ve had in town.
Flat White (£3.20) / Latte (£3.20)
A good brunch doesn’t stop at the food. Having good coffee is equally important to a breakfast/brunch experience. Eggbreak has for sure won my heart by serving quality artisan coffee by Allpress Coffee.
Both coffees were strong, offering a delightful hit to the system upon the first sip. It’s got a beautifully smooth and velvety texture to it, fragrant and robust to taste.
Coldpressed C-Bomb Juice (£6)
If you’re more of a juice person in the morning, they also offer a good range of organic cold-pressed juices from Daily Dose. The C-Bomb juice is made of orange, lemon, and freeze-dried cherry. It’s got a blend of sweet and tangy flavours, with the acidity of the lemon cutting through the sweetness from the orange and the extra edge from the dried cherry.
In summary…
…Eggbreak is a must-visit when it comes to the London Brunch scene. Mornings simply couldn’t get any better than this with its tremendous food and terrific coffees. They just absolutely nailed it on every aspect from food to drinks, and its quality screams how much they deserve to be one of the best brunch restaurants in London. It stole my heart and belly, and I’d highly recommend this place with no hesitation!
