It’s iced coffee season, and there’s no better time than now to play around with different iced latte flavours! Milo has always been a childhood drink for me (think of Milo Dinosaur drink at Malaysian/Singaporean restaurants). Essentially, it’s like chocolate milk to me as a kid, and as an adult, I find it goes amazingly well with coffee. In other words, a Milo Latte is like a twist on Mocha, and it’s just as delicious. It is also a bonus that Milo is a nutritious drink, so I consider this recipe a healthy-ish treat!
What is Milo?
Milo is a malted chocolate drink that’s especially popular in Southeast Asia. It is typically sold in powder form and can be easily prepared with milk or water (either hot or cold). Fun fact: Milo was originally created to tackle malnutrition for kids in Australia back in the 1930s! During the Great Depression, Nestlé wanted to develop a tasty, nutritious drink for kids at an affordable price. It took the young trainee chemical engineer, Thomas Mayne, four years to successfully come up with the Milo drink, and the rest is history.

How to make an Iced Milo Latte
Milo Latte Ingredients
- Milo
- Condensed Milk – as a sweetener
- Hot Water
- Espresso – see recipe notes for using instant coffee
- Milk
- Ice
Recipe Notes & Tips
- I used condensed milk as a sweetener, which also gives the drink a slightly richer texture. If you don’t have/want to use condensed milk, you can substitute it with the likes of sugar, honey, maple syrup, or any other sweetener of your choice.
- Personally, I like to use whole milk for the drink, but you can substitute it with any alternative milk of your choice.
- Depending on how strong you’d like the latte to be, adjust the number of espresso shots accordingly. Personally, I prefer around 1-2 shots.
- This drink can be enjoyed hot as well. To do so, simply omit the ice and warm the milk.
