Bunify Brings Halal Philly Cheesesteak to Shepherds Bush

I’ve got Bunify on my radar for a little while now. Their High Street Kensington branch actually falls within my delivery radius but I wanted to make a visit in person, which I have yet to have a chance to. But then the news came that they are opening in Shepherd’s Bush and, even better, doing a £2 sandwich promotion for their launch day! Without hesitation, we immediately went to pay this new branch of Bunify a visit.

Bunify: Halal American Comfort Food Takeaway

They say, “it’s not a burger, it’s better!”. Bunify prides itself as not your usual fast food, but premium-quality halal American comfort food with a twist. You can find American classics such as Philly Cheesesteak, Mac & Cheese, Hot Dogs, Wings, etc. on the menu, as well as their unique Smash Burger Patty in Brioche Hot Dog Buns.

Similar to its High Street Kensington shop, the Shepherd’s Bush branch is also more of a takeaway spot. It’s located in quite a residential area near Goldhawk Road station, so no doubt their main focus is on takeaway rather than dine-in services. All meats served are halal at Bunify.

The Food: What We Ordered

Date of visit: August 2022

Philly Cheesesteak (£10.25)

Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich at Bunify

There is only a handful of place that does halal Philly Cheesesteak so it’s quite an easy win for Bunify. Featuring sliced sirloin steak, caramelised onions, brioche bun, and drizzled with plenty of melted cheese, the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich was an absolute delight to savour. I opted for some extra crispy onions as they added a lovely crunch and texture to the sandwich. Other than crispy onions, the addition of chilli sauce is also available at no extra cost. It really hit the spot and we really wouldn’t mind having that all day long!

Lotus Freakshake (£5.25)

The Lotus Freakshake at Bunify

This Lotus Freakshake was calling my name the moment I saw it on the menu. It certainly did not disappoint and actually exceeded my expectations. Featuring a generous amount of Lotus spread, whipped ice cream and a touch of cinnamon, the shake was lusciously indulgent to taste. They did not skimp on the Lotus and the shake was rich & decadent in flavour. The texture was perfectly thick and creamy, and there’s no doubt that it’s worth every bit of extra calories!

Strawberry Mint Mojito (£5.25)

A Strawberry Mint Mojito at Bunify

For something lighter and refreshing, their mocktails make a fantastic pick. We went with the Strawberry Mint Mojito, which is a classic frozen mojito chiller with strawberries and mint. An alternative mojito flavour is the Lemon & Mint, or the Chapman Cooler (African sweet punch blend with cucumber, lime, and mint) is said to be quite a hit too!

Mac & Cheese (£5.65)

This was from a takeaway order on UberEats. The other half fancied some late-night mac & cheese and ended up ordering from Bunify. It came very well packaged and the food was still warm upon delivery. Smothered in 4-cheese sauce, and topped with chives and parmesan crumbs, the mac & cheese had a gourmet touch and was very tasty.

Food Review Summary

It’s safe to say we really enjoyed all of Bunify’s food offerings. I think it sort of took us by surprise that a takeaway-focused business delivered such high-quality food. The Philly cheesesteak was no doubt a winner and we’d be keen to try out their burger buns next. They are an underrated gem in west London and are setting the standards with how it should be done!
